Dashboard Guide
The dashboard is the first screen you see after logging in. It provides a real-time overview of your activities, statistics, and quick actions based on your assigned role.
Role-Based Dashboards
Each role sees a different dashboard tailored to their responsibilities. There is no single "universal" dashboard.
Dashboard by Role

Intern Status Overview
Visible to Admin, Coordinator, Center Head, and Supervisor roles (controlled by dashboard.intern_status permission in the Role Matrix).
Six status pipeline cards show the count and percentage of interns in each stage:
- Registered — Intern has registered but not yet verified email
- Profile Incomplete — Email verified, profile wizard not finished
- Profile Complete — All wizard steps done, awaiting allocation
- Allocated — Assigned to a research center/section
- In Progress — Supervisor assigned, internship active
- Completed — Internship finished, eligible for certificate
Chart Analytics (Coordinator Dashboard)
The coordinator dashboard includes Chart.js-powered visualizations:
- Intern distribution by center/section
- Application trend over time
- Task completion rates
- Daily log submission patterns
- Attendance compliance
- Session-wise comparison
Announcements Widget
Active announcements appear as a widget on all dashboards. Announcements can be targeted to specific users, roles, or the entire organization.
Business Rules
- Dashboard data is always scoped to the current user's permissions
- Intern data is scoped to the active internship session
- KPI numbers update in real-time based on database state
- The
dashboard.viewpermission is required to access any dashboard - The
dashboard.intern_statuspermission controls the intern pipeline cards independently
Navigation
The portal uses a fixed sidebar navigation (navy, 260px wide) with sections grouped by function:
- Main — Dashboard, My Profile
- Management — Users, Roles, Permissions, Sessions, Centers, Departments, Lookups, Universities, Announcements, Certificates, Workflows, Approvals, Reports, Interns
- Workflow — Daily Logs, Tasks, Attendance, Evaluations
- System — Audit Logs, Settings, Migrations, Presentation
Permission-Gated Navigation
Sidebar items only appear if you have the corresponding permission. If you cannot see a menu item, you do not have access to that feature.
